SOS! HELP! ????????!
Monday, June 30, 2008SOS! HELP! ????????! [insert other languages here!]
Okay, I have this problem with my PC. I don't exactly know what's wrong with it, but anyway, my .html files has IE7 icons on them. When I double click them, they open in Firefox. I already tried doing the right-click, properties, and change the default browser to Firefox, but it's still the same. I uninstalled my IE7 and my multiple IEs but still, it still has the same icon. I can't work properly, because I kept thinking about that annoying IE icon. It's ruining my day. If you have answers, please tell me! *begs*
Here's a screenshot:

etouu, strange...very strange, best guess would be trying it on another pc and see if it will still show, dunno if that helps...
ReplyDeleteit's the the pc that may not be working properly
Nangyari na rin sakin yan. I'm guessing nag-aaway lang sa default-ness (if there is such a term) ung dalawang browser mo. Try mo hanapin sa Folder Options > File Types ung HTML at baka mapalitan mo ung icon sa settings dun. :)

Aja,
ReplyDeleteI already did that earlier. Same lang sila nito eh:
I already tried doing the right-click, properties, and change the default browser to Firefox, but it's still the same.
Anyway, no luck. :(
I already told you how to solve on irc! Now, lets have our babies :P
ReplyDeletein windows xp there is an option to "Set program access as defaults" (i think start > all programs > "set program access as defaults"
ReplyDeleteclick that and go custom > choose default browser > choose Firefox and click ok.
i think you can access the same menu under control panel > add/remove programs.
anyway try it and see if it works. if it doesnt then im afraid i have no answers beside the ones given above.
good luck
Hey the screenshot jiggles when I mouseover it, tee hee.
ReplyDeleteSelo,
ReplyDeleteI've already told you through IRC as well, that I've already done that. No babies for you!
kaykz,
:o OMG! OMFG! OMFGOFMG! Thank you!! I will love you forever! <33
??,
??! =) The image jiggles because you it's clickable. ^_^
What browser do you usually use? from what I see E.I. is your default set browser but you are opening it in Firefox. I re-created what you are experiencing, expect mine is the opposite.
ReplyDeleteOpen up you firefox and set it as your default browser
Tools --> Options --> Advance tab --> under 'System Defaults' check the check box and pres the "check now" If this do not work again (will not hurt if you try again..
 )
Then do this: Uninstall Firefox. install IE7 reboot computer. Install Firefox again make firefox the default browser and check the box that says "always check if this is the default browser" .hmtl icons should change to the firefox icon if not reboot your machine(computer) else remove Firefox, reboot, open a .html file using IE check the properties if they are the same icon. install firefox and make it as the default browser..
If all else fail... your doom!! lol.. kidding..
You can try:
1. try that file into another computer.
2. scan if computer has virus
3. Get mad at the computer.
4. Call your I.T. help desk in your company. (Lets see if they are really a help desk  )
5. Reformat.
6. Your DOOM!! lol...
hope that helps...
oopppsss that was "except" not "expect "
ReplyDeleteenob-x,
ReplyDeleteIt's fixed. Thanks a lot! =)
cool.
ReplyDelete^_^; Guess you don't need any help anymore... though, I think the solution I was gonna say is the same as the one you did already so it's not much of a help...
ReplyDeleteBtw... Selo, don't be so full of yourself! XD

I can't work properly, because I kept thinking about that annoying IE icon. It's ruining my day.
ReplyDeleteGeez... I'm glad someone helped you out... Sounds like a seriously extreme situation
That's bad when IE haunts your thoughts, day after day, because of that stupid icon. It may be removed from the computer but it'll come in the night and strangle you mentally! -Makes "ooooo"ing noises-
ReplyDeleteBut enough with the jokes, glad you managed to get that fixed. IE is the devil I tell you!
I keep away from IE x_x;; ... have you got vista as well by any chance?? it could be some glitch from that very annoying OS (which i own and totally hates my winamp even though i got the latest version. it's forcing me to use media player ;_; *cries*)

The answer probably lies in the registry, if you are brave try tweaking it there
ReplyDeleteLol, that happened to me before too. I ended up just ignoring it even though at first it really was annoying.
ReplyDeleteNelsons last blog post..7 Days and 7 Nights
it's IE!! *runs in terror* pure evil.
ReplyDeleteah, at least you got it fixed^^
Hikaris last blog post..Dont mind me~~
glitch,
ReplyDeleteWhat babies?
Pastilan,
It could be, it could be not. But, imo, fucking with the registry is the last thing I wanna do. If I could find other ways to solve the problem, then I prefer the long and tedious other ways than the quick way
That happened to me before but for some reasons, it got fix. IE's so annoying! LOL
ReplyDeleteThat's really wierd!
