Nemosine Singularity Demonstrator

Six months ago, I bought a Nemosine Singularity Demonstrator. It was my first demonstrator pen. I planned on filling it up with Diamine Ox Blood ink, which is my favorite ink, and carrying it around. The thought of having a blood-colored ink in a clear beautiful pen made me ecstatic.

I bought my Nemosine Singularity Demonstrator for a cheap price of PHP 1000.00 at Everything Calligraphy, my favorite online store. It came in a box when it arrived. It contained the pen itself with a fine nib, 6 cartridge refills and a converter. I was too excited, so I opened it as soon as I received the package and tried it out immediately.

Before this, I only own a few vintage pens and a Pilot 78G. So I can only compare it with my so few pens. And I love how it writes perfectly smooth. It glides well in my unicorn paper, Bevania Splendorgel. It even writes well in cheap papers like my office-provided notebook (Scribbles). I have nothing more to say about its writing ability. Although, my standards with a pen’s writing ability is pretty low, like, as long as it doesn’t feather and doesn’t scratch as I write in whatever paper with my favorite inks, I’m sold.

The problem came when I brought it home for the first time. I put inside my pencil case, and in my backpack. When I arrived home, I found the ink leaked inside the cap, and a few drops inside the pencil case.

It looked like this:

Some members of the Fountain Pen Network Philippines group helped and suggested things about my pen’s leaking. (Thanks everyone!) But unfortunately, it still leaked. So in the end, I just decided to stop carrying it around with me. This picture above was from the last time it leaked.

In the few weeks that followed, I started noticing small cracks in the cap.

And then, a few months after that, the top of the cap suddenly broke on me when I was cleaning it. ????

I’m not entirely sure what went wrong, but I do not think I was too forceful while cleaning it. And I’ve only used dish washing liquid mixed in water, cottons and paper towels to clean it. I think that the plastic they used for it isn’t very durable.

I still have the pen, even after that. And I ink it up from time to time. Although it always just stays in my desk. I really love how it writes and that it also has a sentimental value to me, it being my first demonstrator pen. For now, I merely covered the cap with washi tape until I figure out what to do with it or how I should stick it.

If you’re planning to buy one, I would like you to know that it’s a great pen. It’s cheap, yet it writes well. The only problems with it are that it’s not durable and that it leaks when you bring it around. I suggest that you keep it in your desk instead of bringing it around, and try to avoid ink drops on the cap so that you don’t have to clean the cap it as much. When you screw the cap on the pen, do it extremely gently to avoid it cracking.
